About US:
Jails
cover of ‘Sheila take a bow’ has featured on The compilation ‘Keeping up with
the Smiths’ alongside such luminaries as Filthy Pedro, Thomas Truax, and The
Bobby McGees. See www.Myspace.com/smithscoversalbum
for full details.
The
track Renaissance Man has featured on Resonance FM during Stewart Lee's
lunchtime slot and also on Rare FM, from the "Circle:\line and Frienz:
free EP. The EP follows the release of the bands debut album 'Riot At The
Health Club'. This CD features the song 'Nice Day To Know You' which has
featured on several compilation CDs including Flitwick records and Matchbox
recordings. The Song has also reached Number 5 in the Peoplesound charts, with
over a hundred downloads. The album is out now in shops in Basildon,
Leigh-on-sea, London and Colchester.
The
other EP 'Alive in London Town ' has also sold many copies in Fopp record
stores nationwide, without much promotion, also getting into the top 5 of the
Fopp Unsigned charts. Hardcore!
Jail
have also performed many gigs in London and Leeds as well as the Roadhouse in
Manchester, they have played in 'The Rocket' live venue, The Cherry Jam, The
Bull and Gate, The Betsy Trotwood and the Dublin Castle. Their first gig was at
The Royal Park Cellars in Leeds in December 2001. However Jail have never
played a venue without the word ‘the’ to start the title. Fact.
Jail
have also featured on the DeXter Bentley show ‘Hello Goodbye’ on the 16th
July and 17th December of 2005, playing a session incorporating: Circle:/line, Renaissance man, Rabid
confusion and Agenda 21. Niceday to
Know You and Helmore Street were
played on the 17th of December on the same show. These downloads can
be found on this website. ‘Hello Goodbye’ is on Saturdays 12-1pm 104.4fm (Resonance
FM). It’s a good show so give it a listen.
‘Niceday
To Know You’ has also featured on Manchesters’ Radio Nowhere and was on the
playlist for a week in 2003 alongside artists such as Grandaddy and Blur. Jail
also regularly feature on RareFM, UCLs’ own student radio station.
A
bootleg version of Renaissance man that was featured on the same radio station
is available as well, this song features Rachel Kann as guest poet rapper and
saxophonist Mike Walter. Check out the downloads page for this as well. Latest
gigs will be featured below. Thanks.
