Reviews: "Jail never seem to get bog standard reviews for sum raisin. Isn't it lovely to see confused reviewers trying to work them out?! [Albert Humburg '06] They have never been compared to Oasis for example.

"Jail are a miniature meccano kit version of the great, leftfield indie rock template. All they need now is scaffolding" Stewart Lee.

Being 747 + The Coainer Drivers + Jail

Words by Dave Procter

First up are an intriguing prospect called Jail. This band features a front man armed with a yellow fluorescent tube (lit up, of course), wandering around the stage and the crowd and it's not really obvious if he knows what he's doing or not. His band mates look on bemused and the whole set seems like one big game of chicken as to who bottles out first to finish a song. Musically, we can hear bits of Pavement, Half Man Half Biscuit, Stranglers and The Fall. But this is nowhere near the full story and the album is just as confusing. Best songs are "Circle Line", about the mundanity of London existence and closer "Renaissance Man". A look at this bunch is advised.

"New Indie band JAIL follow in true eccentric Brit pop style with the superb song “ Nice day to know you”. This brilliant little Indie pop gem starts with a boppy backing, jangly and distorted guitars and rather eccentric vocals that take the listener on a visit to the country. Jail are a true English guitar pop band who write extremely catchy chorus's and combine them with a quirky and eccentric noise guitar pop sound. They have a pop sensibility that touches on Half Man Half Biscuit crossed with Blur or Pulp. “Living in the country” swoons the lead singer as the chorus belts it's way into your helpless head and never leaves. This is very catchy and sing-a long in an eccentric way……Listen to Jail and do not pass GO".
